Should we take care of our health?

Most of you are probably wondering as to why is am I asking this question which has an obvious answer of ‘Yes’.

Before we answer this question, let us understand what health is interpreted as. Most of you reading this are probably implying that you do not have the usual and common disorders or any major diseases and therefore you are healthy. The most common impression of being healthy is when a person has no “DISEASE”.

Health is NOT absence of disease. Health of an individual is mostly safeguarded by avoiding diseases. In the process of avoiding diseases by unnecessary medications, we are suppressing our healing power, safeguarding it and making it weak.

So here again I ask, should we take care of our health? Yes?!

Well! I would like to differ and say “No, we need not have to take care of our health”

Probably most of you did not expect this answer out of me. Well, I am saying it again here that we need not have to take care of our health. But HEALTH will take care of us as far as we allow it to do so.

Health is nothing but a state of wellbeing, its our state of vitality and healing power emergent from conducive interactions between individuals’ potentials, life demands, and social and environmental determinants.  Therefore, this state of wellbeing adapts based on our interaction patterns.

So, what matters is our interaction patterns with our environment, with the society and with ourselves.

Interaction with the environment involves our behavior with mother nature and its component in entirety. We are from HER and we depend on her for everything right from what we eat, wear, and up to everything we do in the name of exploring and experiencing. As far as our interaction with her is disturbing the state of equilibrium, we are not healthy.

Interaction with society involves our verbal and non-verbal communication, the impression that we are creating of us in the society, the influence we have on others, the behavior that we exhibit and the thoughts and activities that we endorse. Are we allowing our wisdom to play its role or are we creating disturbance with our intellect?

Interaction with ourselves involves the way we treat our body and mind with. Our choices and perspectives that decide what we do and how we spend time wit ourselves. Are we creating a state of balance within us?

With this let each of us take time to reflect upon our interaction pattern with our mother nature, with the society and with ourselves.

As far as health is concerned, it is our inner healing capacity (INNER VITALITY), the comforter that is capable of actively taking care of body and mind. It only needs enhancement and not being taken care of or safeguarded.
